There is still talk about the planned harvest of large portions of Moose Mountain and Bragg Creek by @spraylakesawmills (now owned by West Fraser Timber which is part of a larger group of companies). The vast majority of the community impacted by this planned harvest is vehemently against this. We all have our reasons why we are against this - be it tourism, ecological and environmental considerations, etc. Everyone I have chatted with in this group has expressed they are not opposed to using our resources to benefit Albertans, they just ask that more careful planning and honest consultation with stakeholders happen. In the age of ESG and increased oversight on these issues we often get blinded by just answering the E. However, the other two letters cannot be ignored. The S gives a company their social license to operate. By actively ignoring or being outright hostile to a large portion of the marketplace a company effectively ensures they will be abandoned by the market. This is exactly the situation that is facing @spraylakesawmills Now the Range Rider MTB platform is politically neutral because bringing politics into something that we use to get away from the “fun of life” seems counterproductive. However, in this issue, we cannot be silent as this impacts where I and many others across this beautiful province go to enjoy what’s around us. I encourage you to follow @grow_kananaskis whose efforts combined with @treeonme (who started this organized response). I encourage politicians of all sides of the spectrum to put politics aside and think about what is truly good for Albertans. Please make sure we can keep this area for all Albertans - don’t have videos like this be just a memory.
